La Mariposa closed another successful PTA sponsored Book Fair.
As part of La Mariposa’s Literacy Program and La Mariposa PTA’s fundraising campaign our Fall 2012 BookFair opened Monday November 26th and ran through Friday December 7th.
Teachers and students began previewing early in the fair, browsing passionately and creating wish lists enabling family and friends, who support a love of reading to purchase gifts on their behalf.
In addition to friends and family wish list purchases, our teachers purchased close to $1700 worth of books courtesy of the La Mariposa PTA.
Our student body enjoyed daily trips to the fair and treasured every purchase. Students participated in the annual “guessing jar” contest with winners from each grade level receiving a Book Fair gift certificate. Parents and students joined together to shop at our Breakfast with Books morning and again on our Family Night. On Family Night nearly 100 food items were received at the door to support our Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive!
All proceeds from La Mariposa Book Fairs go directly back to the school, supplementing and increasing our classroom libraries and growing technology demands! The fall 2012 Book Fair earned $2500 for this effort.
